Housing Secretary Angela Rayner has announced sweeping changes to leasehold law that campaigners say could transform home ownership in England.
The reforms, part of Labour's manifesto commitment, aim to make it cheaper and easier for leaseholders to extend their lease or buy their freehold.
Key changes include:
- Abolition of marriage value for lease extensions
- Standard lease extension terms of 990 years
- Capping ground rents
- Reforming the enfranchisement process
These changes are expected to benefit millions of leaseholders across the country.
